Coffee, concrete, and a point of view.
The Story
BLACK MILK started as a disagreement. Two people in a bland café, annoyed by the same recycled aesthetic they'd seen in every neighborhood. Same filtered light, same succulents, same acoustic playlist on repeat.
So we built the opposite. A space where the concrete stays exposed, the music has teeth, and the coffee doesn't hide behind syrup. We opened in Bucharest because this city gets it — raw, creative, unapologetic. Like us.
Manifesto
We don't do cozy.
We do honest.
Every drink on our menu exists because it's good, not because it's trending. Every piece of furniture is here because it fits the space, not the feed. We'd rather be a place you remember than a place you photograph.
No fake cozy. No beige sameness. No corporate soul. Just coffee that's made right, in a space that feels like the city it's in.
Philosophy
Coffee first
Specialty-grade, sourced directly, roasted with intent. We taste everything before it hits the menu. If it's not exceptional, it doesn't serve.
Space matters
The room you drink in changes how the coffee tastes. We designed for focus, not comfort theater. Concrete, natural light, good acoustics.
Local always
Our pastries come from a baker two streets over. Our art comes from people in this city. We'd rather support a neighbor than a supplier.
The Space
40 square meters of exposed concrete, steel, and glass. We kept the original walls from the building's industrial past. The counter is poured concrete. The stools are reclaimed. The light comes from the street and from intention, not from Instagram-friendly pendants.
Seats 22 inside, 8 outside. There's a bar facing the barista and a long communal table. No reservations for regular service — just show up.
Sourcing
We work with three roasters — two in Berlin, one in Bucharest. Beans are seasonal, single-origin when possible, and always roasted within the last two weeks of serving. We change the filter rotation monthly.
